Lakhimi Gaonlia Bank (L.G.B.) is one amongst 196 Regional
Rural Bank(RRB)established under Regional Rual Bank Act. enacted by
parliament in 1976 The Bank started functioning from 29th of July 1980
taking Golaghat as Head office. Area of operation of the Bank spreads in
five districs of Assam viz. Sibsagar,Jorhat, Golaghat and Morigaon with a
network of 100 branches covering nearly 2000 villages and 6 development
Blocks. |
The objective behind establishment of RRB was to develop the
Rural economy by providing credit and other Banking facilities particularly to
the small and Marginal Farmers,Agricultural Labourers, artisans and small
enterprenurs. Since inception Lakihimi Gaonlia Bank plays a vital role for
development of Rural Economy and participating in various poverty alleviation
programmes launched by government IE,IRDP,SGSY,SUME etc.
In Morigaon District the Bank provides its service theough
11(Eleven) branches :
Habibarangabari,Charaibahi,Jauguti,Morigaon,Manaha,Boha,Jagiroad,Nelie
Amsai,Ahotguri and Telahi.Morigaon is one of the economically Backward District
and lion share comes Agriculture.Taking the nature of economic activity of the
district in to consideration LGB has extend its financial support mainly to the
agriculture sector The Bank has already introdues Lakhimi Kisan Credit Card
scheme to make credit easily available to the farmers.
Introduction of
LKCC at Manaha Branch
This scheme make available credit facility to the farmer
throughout the year. The scheme is found very successful in the district so far
utilisation and recovry of Bank Loan are concern. For successful implementation
of various schemes and better credit awareness "Farmers Club" are formed and
they play a very positive role in this regards specially recovery.
| In a Major
step towards Rural Development, the Bank has taken Programme for fiancing
self help Group.Through this programme the Bank has able to extend credit
facility to large numbers of needy people specially women
benificiaries.Future plan of the Bank is to reach maximum possible rural
people engage in agriculture and other activities through LKCC and self
help Groups. Mission of the Bank is to make idle Rural Deposit an active
force for Rural Development. |
