The Department of Vety.& Animal Husbandry is playing an important role in the Development of Socio-Economic condition of the District. This Deptt. Is taking utmost care in the protection of animal health and upliftment of the animal husbandry by different ways like rearing of exotic of breeds of Cattle, Goat and Poultry and producing cross breeds with local breeds and by the training programme to the house wives and unemployed youth and mass vaccination to the animals as most of them are newly engaged in Poultry, Piggery & Cross bred cow farming.

The Department is serving the District with one District Veterinary office having one officer, four Nos of Block Vety. Dispensary and Mobile Vet.Dispansary Nine Nos. of Vety. Dispensaries ,one Regional A.I. Centre and twenty Nos of Primary Vety. First aid Centres where inety two persons are serving in the different categories.

Morigaon District is a flood Prone District and people are mainly dpends on agriculture Animal is the maim means of cultivation . So this department is trying to provide adequate trentment and Vaccination to the animals.The department is paying utmost care to animal husbandry so, that by rearging Cattle,Pig,Goat and Poultry the people of Morigaon District can improve their economic condition and to produce the animal protein for human nutrition . This Department is producing meat from one Broiler and one Pigary Farm . The Deptt. is also producing hybrid reed Grass which are distributed to the flood affected areas of the Morigaon District. Seeds and reeds are also supplied to the farmers of the District, so that hybreed grass should be cultivated in the District. The Deptt. is running all schemes of ARIASP smoothly , mainly the artificial insemination scheme, training programme of beneficiaries & staffs, mass meeting , and fodder seeds distribution.

The department is extending its helping hand to the Sitajakhala Milk producer Co-operative Socity Ltd. with treatment and management training along with artificial insemination. Here is a brief picture of the society.

The historic Sitajakhala area is very rich in Cattle population specially in milk producing animals . So in the year 1959 Sitajakhala Milk Producers Co-operation Society was formed. Now about 350 families are the members of the society producing not less than 10,000 litres of milk per day . Now the annual turn over of this society is about Rs.5.5 Corers .This Society is now one of the fortune makers of greater Jagiroad area of Morigaon Disrict donating a huge amounts to Jagiroad College, several Schools and other developmental works such as construction of Village roads etc.
